On shore leave, she never knew quite what to do with herself, really; not that there weren't plenty of options. Pike more then expressed his willingness to let any one of the officers take up a teaching position, or even some kind of position at the academy to help out and kill some time. For the moment, she hadn't decided on that yet, but it wasn't exactly crossed off of her list, either. It was kind of nice not needing to listen to an annoying alarm an ass o'clock on the morning because it was time to get down to work. At least, if only for a couple more days, she was content with being a lazy pile of bones, and enjoying some of the outside world.
Even so, deciding to go to an opera, of all things, really hadn't been something she expected to do in the near future; sure, she actually kind of liked it- the singing was very nice, and even if the plot was a little...well, sketchy, at best, and silly at worst, and it was in a language she didn't understand fully, it was entertaining. At the very least; besides, she hadn't paid for the tickets, anyhow. Pike had the hook-up around these parts apparently, and getting promotional stuff for his officers and such was a common thing. She'd only seen a few other officers that she recognized, but that's because she only knew a handful of them by face, and even less by name.
Being away from...her double-sided work was really a good breather, though; no need to report to thomas for a few weeks, and that took a lot of her nerves away. It was like a whole weight was being lifted off of her shoulders, and that alone made her much more calm and just overall relaxed. There was a half an hour intermission break, and the audience was left to go to the lobby, stretch, find a restroom if necessary, or get refreshments. She didn't know about anyone else, but hell, they served alcohol, and that was something Dinah wouldn't mind getting in on. Not enough to be drunk, not tonight, but just..pleasantly buzzed, at most.
Adjusting the hem of her plain black dress - it was formal wear, obviously, but that didn't mean she was gonna go all ridiculously fancy - she wandered over to the bar, barely even scanning over the menu, before ordering:
"One Risan mai-tai, please."
