Dinah do this -- Lt. Fedotova do that.
It was surprising to herself how she managed to stay sane all this time; between taking orders from tomas, to orders from her superiors, and everything else thrown in the mix, it was enough to drive some people insane. Yet, here she was, in Starfleet, doing just that and still not off the deep end. Dinah let out a sigh, pausing for a moment from her work, taking the time to wipe of the dappled grease from her arm, and casting a wary glance at the clock.
Thank Jehova. Time for a nice relaxing break, mmm.
The thought alone was enough to allow her to relax, clean up her area, and leave it prepared for her return. A bit of washing up was to be done: face and hands mostly, before allowing herself to wander about the ship. First item on the menu? Getting a vanilla latte, with soy milk, and heading off to the lounge for a bit of r&r. The mess hall would be far too bustling, even at this hour. It certainly wasn't unusual to find others in the recreational facilities; it was a fairly calming place, unless utterly packed or filled with drunk juvenile behavior. Neither of which were particularly inspiring (not at the moment, at least).
"Ah, what a gorgeous day. Just as black and starry-eyed as yesterday, don't you agree?" She chirped upon arriving, to no-one in particular, really; utterly melting into the couch elicited a heavenly moan from her in the comfort. Exhaling, all the stress was forced from her body through sheer mental will, and she took another sip of her tasty, low-fat caffeine beverage. "Gotta admit though, sometimes I really miss seeing all the pretty colors of a sunrise, and hearing everything come alive. Not the same when you have it on play-back on the computer."

[/i] Yawning a little she glanced at the origin of the voice and smiled. Ah Diniah, fellow engineer, she was a good laugh she knew that but Eilidh really didn't know her that well. To be honest she didn't really know anyone else that well. Rubbing her eye she gave her a little smile. “Not really, I always thought stars looked better when they were moving.” She stated simply, really she thought it was better when they were moving away from earth, this planet here was the center of everything that she was trying to get away from, she was trying to escape the memories and pull it had over her. Shifting in her seat at her next words "Gotta admit though, sometimes I really miss seeing all the pretty colors of a sunrise, and hearing everything come alive. Not the same when you have it on play-back on the computer." That was true, she missed home, she really did. She missed the water on the beach and the way the windchill bit in to your skin as you sat on the rocks watching the wind rip in off the Sounds of Jura. It was amazing to hear the gulls over your heads as the clouds span past trying to evade being ripped back down to earth by the mountains. Amazing. You could never replicate that, you couldn't get any of that back through computer generated hollow light. Still...it twisted her thoughts. Did she want to go home or not? She missed the planet but she didn't want to go back home, she didn't want to go near anywhere he might be. This was too complicated. Eilidh liked it better when they were away. That way she didn't have to think about any of this. Still she laughed slightly looking at her fellow engineer before shaking her head. “As if we would ever get the chance.” Inane chatter was her forte. “Come on, the only time we get to do anything without having to work around everyone else is when we're in space dock.” She scratched her neck and smiled. “Mind you, seriously. I've done what, forty nine console realignments in the last twelve hours.” Four years. Four years of working her ass off and she had been playing the glorified electrical tech all day. “Even the freaking cleaners have gone home.” There wasn't even a skeleton crew on board now, Eilidh had been sat on deck nine earlier on in the day looking over consoles for four hours and no one had walked past. That was when you knew the damned place was quiet. “What about you, thought you would have popped down for a while?”[/size][/ul]

"Yeah, it can definitely be something with all the stars and nebulas just streaking across the glass; almost like some kind painting. Almost hard to believe sometimes." She shrugged, playing a little with the frothy topping on her caffeine beverage idly, before taking a small sip.
By the way all of her muscles seemed to silently coo and relax, it was obvious that her latte was definitely treating her right; it was warm and silky, with just a hint of something that could be chocolately, but it wasn't. That little dapple of whipped cream did the drink more justice then any zero-calorie sweetener ever could, and it tasted ten times better, too. Oh yeah, baby. If she were a cat, she would definitely be all sorts of purring by now; well, she kinda was...just, y'know, in her mind. "Oh, so true. But, our work is never really done around here, is it? Doing maintenance on this, or checking that; or, hell, doing ship-wide upgrades when the new parts come in. Those are what I [li]live
[/i] for." She giggled, only somewhat sarcastically. No matter how many hours she needed to put it, or how much complaining there was to be done, she did love it, and that was that. Dinah took another sip of her latte, letting the drink glide down her throat, and warm her senses all in one swoop. A light smile was given to her fellow greasemonkey. "Yeah, I thought so too, but San Fran can survive a few more hours without me," She winked playfully, before shaking her head. "I plan on hittin' home at some point, but I don't like to leave things half-assed. Once I finish the bit I'm working on now, I'll probably leave; get a little bit fucked up here and there, maybe catch a flick or two, and if I'm lucky, see some of my planet-side friends for a while. Our schedules never did match well, but, what the hell, I can at least try! If nothing else, I hear Pike is letting us take up temporary positions at the academy. So, that's another option." Dinah paused, stretching her neck to the side briefly, loving how the muscles seemed to melt from the action. "What about you? Got any potential plans you can't wait to live up?"
