The Enterprise was still on shoreleave and from what Toshiro knew there were still a few good repairs that needed to be done before the Enterprise was ready to leave. The fight with Nero and the Romuluns had done quite a bit of damage and the Engineers were working hard to ensure that the ship was in tip top shape. Toshiro had been helping out as much as he could and he hoped that the help he was giving was appreciated. Although he had knwoedlge in the area he'd followed a tactical and security path and so he would understand if people didn't appreciate 'someone like him' helping. But the fact was he did know a lot about Engineering; but not just that but Robotics and Computing. His father had trained him hard in those areas in hope that he'd help out in the company; but of course Toshiro had other ideas.

Perhaps that conflict in opinion was why Toshiro had avoided going home; from day one his father had dissaproved of his decission and had tried to make him reconsider. Even now after helping say the planet from Nero's attack his father was still trying to make him 'return to his senses' and come back home. It made him feel guilty because this conflict now meant he was breaking his promise to his mother. The two were very close and he had promised to visit her whenever he could and now because of his frustration at his father he was avoiding going home. He was certain his mother knew that they were still on shoreleave because he expected that an announcement would be made when they left. He was certain she felt hurt by his actions and he only hoped that the letter he'd sent would be enough to show her that he still cared and that he was sorry.

Walking down the corridors he knew that this was his home and that nothing could replace it. Starfleet was a very special place and when you became a Starfleet officer you became a part of a big family. There would always be someone you could talk to and the Enteprise was no exception; the events with Nero had brought everyone together and Toshiro could say with confidence that he had found some good friends here and he only hoped that these friendships would grow and strengthen when they left shore to explore space. But there were many new people who would be joining them and Toshiro was looking forward to meeting them and learning more about them. He hadn't yet seen who was assigned to join the ship but as a Security officer he was expected to learn everyone who was on the ship in case of emergencies and also just for general security purposes. It could be hard work sometimes but it was well worth it in the end and he was often glad that he picked things up quickly and had a good enough memory to remember at least the faces of all those on board.

He was certain that when they did leave shore that his job would be harder, although Nero had been a difficult task for them all the hourney they were going to take would be around fiver years; if not more. And during that time they would come across many races and he had no doubt that at times they would run into trouble. But he was confident in the Captain's ability to protect them and indeed his own to do his job and help out in anyway he can. It would be a long five years and it would change them all and he just hoped he'd have the strength to acomplish all he hoped he could.
