APPEARANCE: Leonard McCoy has a normal appearance. There is rarely anything unique about him when standing still. Somewhat attractive and somewhat muscular, though he rarely uses those muscles, but everything is all relatively normal about him. His hair is brown, short, and well groomed when he is working. His eyes are hazel, somewhat squinted and small. He is somewhat tall, standing at 6'2". His nose is somewhat pointed and narrow, his lips quite full compared to most men. When talking, he speaks out of the side of his mouth at times and it gets more noticeable when he is talking about something with great passion. Also, his brow moves quite dramatically when expressing emotion or again, talking about something that he feels strongly about.

PERSONALITY: Drinker: McCoy doesn't say no to a good drink. He's not a constant drunk, but he does enjoy to have a nice southern mint julep every once and a while. Though not a constant drunk, he still gets that way from time to time.

Passionate / Emotional: He gets very passionate about the things he is talking about and the people he is talking to. For instance, he loves a good debate about something, though he tends to think that he is right about what he is talking about, which he usually is. His emotions just tend to get in the way. Though he mostly seems to be irritated and sarcastic about things, that isn't always so. He has been married before and was broken up about it so he is also loving and can be down in the dumps.

Caring: He cares for all of his friends and all of his patients, though he sometimes acts like he doesn't. He will jump into harms way to help someone he cares about or even knows nothing about. All he knows is that they need help and he is very willing to give it, no matter what cost.

Sarcastic / Snarky: McCoy will throw random insults that usually mean nothing but that he is crabby about something. They're nothing severe and are barely accurate, but he just likes to say them to get his point across and tell them that he means business. Also, they are used for playful banter which is usually what the comments are for.

Ill-tempered / Stubborn: He often tells everyone else what to do, but he hates getting ordered around himself if he doesn't want to do it. Being a doctor, anyone has to obey him if it is even remotely medical related and he quite likes that. He has no problem questioning authority and acting like himself even though he should be acting like a starfleet officer and respecting everyone. Though he is usually right when he says these things, so no one questions him back and they stay silent. Beware he is subject to random rants.

Bottom line, Leonard McCoy is a caring individual and makes friends easily from the comic relief he can bring to people, though he doesn't usually mean to do so. He will speak his mind and talk to anyone he meets, but sometimes those things aren't something you would like to know. There is no normality with his personality. It is 50/50 good and bad.

HISTORY: Leonard H. McCoy was born to David McCoy in 2227 at the "Old South" region of North America on Earth. He began studying medicine in 2245. While in medical school, McCoy and his friends used to play practical jokes on each other all the time. For example, they would substitute real drinking glasses with trick drinking glasses, causing the target drinker to spill on their shirt. McCoy was top of his class in anatomical and forensic pathology and organized the Academy's first Astrophobia seminar.

Following medical school and divorce from his wife, McCoy chose to enlist in Starfleet in 2255, despite his aviophobia-fear of dying in something that flies. McCoy spent three years at Starfleet Academy, befriending James T. Kirk in the process. The two first met at the Riverside Shipyard on the shuttlecraft for Starfleet Academy new recruits, where the nervous doctor kept ranting to Kirk about the health hazards of flying in a shuttle and his divorce. During the hearing on Kirk's actions of sabotaging the Kobayashi Maru test, a distress call was received from Vulcan. All cadets, including McCoy, but with the exception of Kirk, who was under academic suspension for the sabotage, were immediately activated for duty. McCoy was assigned to the USS Enterprise as a medical officer. Out of sympathy for his friend, McCoy induced a medical condition in Kirk in order to smuggle him on board the Enterprise.Later, he replaced Doctor Puri, the Enterprise chief medical officer, when Puri was killed in battle and still holds that position.
