APPEARANCE:
Cam is a tall young man, standing at approximately 6 feet 1 inch, and weighing in at around 180 pounds. His body is well-muscled, probably due to his daily work-out routine, and he thinks very highly of himself because of it. In fact, one of his main concerns in life is maintaining his looks. Cam is a handsome sight to look at, with brown hair worn in a short fashion and bright blue eyes. His face is eye-pleasing, and Cam loves nothing more than to attract attention from the ladies. His smile is warm and cheerful; he makes many friends because of it, as well as his loyalty and dedication.
PERSONALITY:
In his youth, Cam was the perfect son anyone could ask for. He hardly ever disobeyed his parents, except for during extreme measures – like when his older brothers got on his nerves. Other than that, he was quiet, intelligent, and well-mannered. There was no telling where he got those personality traits from, his mother having been an alcoholic and his step-father a low-life. Either way, he was the top dog at his school, and one of the best students at Starfleet later on.
Cam has always been a good friend – loyal, dedicated, trustworthy . . . He finds it amusing to charm the ladies, even though he's not very good at it. Although he's incredibly brilliant, he's humble, maybe even a bit too humble. Whenever there's a party or some other fun activity going on, you can count Cam in. He wouldn't miss anything fun. When he's depressed, he'll often rub off on his friends, but Cam is quick to overcome stressful situations.
HISTORY:
Cam Wilson was born twenty-three years ago in the small state of Wisconsin. His mother was an alcoholic, more or less, and Cam's birth was really just a big “accident”. Having been unhappy with her first husband (and after having three children with him), Cam's mother had an affair with another man – a guy called Mike Wilson. But as soon as she became pregnant, Mike “left town”, leaving the distraught mother to face her husband alone. Her husband was furious, but the unhappy couple managed to work past their differences. Camden Dean Wilson was born on Friday the 13th in the month of December. The baby was bad luck, his step-father seemed to think, and the man insisted on calling him “Cam”, because Camden was a stupid name. Soon, the nickname stuck.
Cam's childhood was troubled. The boy really had no father figure, or even a motherly one for that matter, and he was never on good terms with his half-siblings. He was constantly abused by his step-father when his mother was too drunk to do anything about it, and his two older brothers always picked on him, doing all sorts of awful things. Like locking him out of the house at night, practicing their aim with a BB gun on him, and “accidentally” forgetting him at the grocery store a couple of times, to name a few. And he was always so different from his siblings. Mark, the oldest, was strong and terrifying. Jack was almost identical to Mark, but he was worse. Anne was the only girl in the family – dumb, blond, and crazy. But Cam was intelligent, almost too much so, warm-hearted, and cunning. As he grew older, Cam found that he could outsmart his brothers in every way if he put his mind to it.
Cam was always fascinated by ships and cars as a child, one of his many reasons for joining Starfleet in the future. During boring days, Cam would often take apart vehicles and put them back together again for fun. When Mark and Jack decided to destroy Cam's favorite home-made invention with a sludge-hammer, the younger boy got back at them by hot-wiring their first automobile and driving it into a lake.
As soon as Mike and Jack graduated, they both went off the deep end, just like their parents. Cam didn't hear from them often. Occasionally they would get a letter from Jack (he was better off than Mike), but that was all. They never took the time to visit, not even on the holidays, and Cam didn't really care. Wherever they were, he was glad they were gone. Due to their leaving, however, Cam's mother only got worse. She went on regular outings to the bar, drowning herself in liquor every time she got the chance, and Cam was always the one to take care of her when she got home. It wasn't fair, but he wouldn't give up on her. Cam loved her. The only thing he wanted was her love in return, but it seemed like he would never get it.
Cam graduated from high school a year earlier than the other students. He was determined to make something of himself, to make his mother proud. He would send her money – he promised. And letters. A letter every week at least. Cam's mind was set on enlisting on Starfleet. He had the brains. He had the determination, the bravery. He would make something of himself there. Soon after graduating, Cam was accepted into the academy, and he left at the end of the summer. Hugging his mother goodbye, Cam knew that he would never be home again. He wouldn't be able to take care of her anymore. His mother was in the hands of an abusive man that made her unhappy. But he left anyways. Cam couldn't be held down by his family forever.
During the next summer, Cam received a very depressing letter in the mail – from his mother. His step-father had shot himself, and Cam's mother was all alone. In the letter, she was practically begging him to come home. But he couldn't leave Starfleet – he would be leaving his entire life behind him, and so he stayed, promising to send her more money than usual. But, by doing so, Cam ran low on money for himself, and he set about doing double the work to earn money, often off-campus – work for low-lives. Cam had reached a breaking point, and he frequented the bar more than usual, becoming almost as bad as his mother. But what else could he do? That's what he did when he was depressed.
After about a year, and after Cam had been promoted to Lieutenant, he overcame his debts and slowed down on his drinking habits. He never returned home, though. After he had stepped over that bump in the road, Cam became very popular at the Starfleet Academy, and among the crew members of the USS. Enterprise. He was like able – handsome, outgoing, friendly . . . He possessed all the traits of a true friend. But his life still wasn't complete . . .
