APPEARANCE: Joselyn has always been the sort of girl that didn’t care too much about what people thought of her, at least when it came to her appearance, or so she likes to say. Truth is, Joselyn does care about how she looks and she likes to look put together but in a laid back sort of way, which is rather easy when all she has to do is wear her uniform and pull her light brown hair back into a ponytail, which is her usual style for her hair. When she has to dress up, Joselyn does tend to wear it down and curled slightly or up in an elaborate updo, but those are for special occasions. She’s more tomboy than girlygirl when it comes to daily life, but if you get her into an elegant party, Joselyn can blend in with the upperclass, at least for the night, dressing the part gladly (how often does a girl get to do that anyway?). In her off time, she tends to wear brighter colors to offset her tanned skin and bring out the colors in her hazel eyes. She prefers the more simple designs rather than anything overly detailed and doesn’t mind wearing skirts, even short skirts as much as she loves wearing pants.
Joselyn keeps herself fit, as a way to relax and relieve stress as much as it is about vanity. In her spare time, or when she can’t sleep, Joselyn is the girl who will work out and she genuinely enjoys it, and it keeps her slim and strong as a bonus. She prides herself on taking care of her body, making sure she doesn’t over indulge (since she does love her desserts and drinks) and that even goes to her make up. Joselyn keeps it neutral and light, relying more on her natural beauty than that of make-up. When she’s going out, of course she plays it up, but she always keeps her lips light. For Joselyn, she’s on the ship to do her job, not make herself up for the guys, as much as she does enjoy their company. PERSONALITY: Joss has a pleasant disposition, prone to smiling, laughing and in turn, making others do the same. She appreciates humour and usually does tend to find the ‘up side’ of the situation as much as possible. All her life she’s been the girl with the fire in her eyes, that spunk and flare that draws people to her without her really thinking too much about it. Jose simply is who she is and she isn’t someone who sits in the corner and broods. No, Joss is more prone to the go-get-it attitude that looks at the world in a slightly more pleasant way. If she’s going to die, she’ll do it her way and she’s not afraid to go out with a bang. Jose is the one who is most likely to dive head first into the situation. No need to explain all the details, if it involves helping a friend or someone similar, she’ll be there, no questions asked.
Joss has one of the biggest hearts around. She feels deeply for people, particularly those in need. It was a trait instilled in her by her parents, her father most of all. She was raised to appreciate and respect life, in all its levels. Does that mean she doesn’t get angry and she doesn’t lose her temper, far from it. Jose simply can’t hurt people in any way, physical or emotional, that who she feels doesn’t deserve to be hurt. Her parents raised her better than that. She has a great capacity to love and to feel for the individual, a trait she‘d contribute to her father who she thinks has the biggest heart in Starfleet. She’ll help whoever needs her help, if she’s able, she will. If someone takes the time and courage to ask for her assistance, how can she turn that person down? Especially when she knows how hard it is to ask for help in the first place. She’s far too much of a giver than she could ever be someone to take something for herself. Sam would rather give what she has away than to keep it for herself. She values her own life, but she puts the value of other lives higher on her priority list.
Surprisingly, she wasn’t always the most confident woman in the crowd. She learned, over time, to step out of her mother’s shadow and blossom into her own woman. With that revelation, Joss turned a corner, becoming the firey, strong, young woman most people see. She has a great capacity to poke fun at herself and not be demeaning about it. It is her ‘cheeky’ sort of humor coupled with her ability to hold her head high, that makes Joss a remarkably strong woman in herself. She has her extreme moments of doubt, however, despite all the confidence Sam is a human being after all. When she hits those lows, Joss, like everything else in her life, goes all out with those lows. As high as the highs go, that’s as low as the lows can go. She has the ability to bounce back, but it has to be on her own terms, no one else’s. Joselyn isn’t afraid of help or people being there to help her, but they have to understand that it is her way or no way when it comes to dealing with things.
No one tells Jose what to do, when to do it, or what to say. She’s a strong willed, headstrong, stubborn woman. It’d be a miracle for someone to manipulate Jose into doing their biddings. In the past it has happened, but as she’s grown and matured, she’s found who she is. She’s a passionate woman who doesn’t step down in her beliefs and doesn’t shy away from her own opinion. She can be proven wrong and Jose has been prove wrong millions of times, it simply takes a bit of convincing or that certain charm.
Determined and driven as ever, Joss would never had been the strong woman she is today without a willful, stubborn spirit. She drives herself hard, probably harder than anyone else around her and holds herself to higher standards that was seems necessary. But that‘s just to achieve her goals. Idealistic, Joss strives to achieve the world she dreams of and the peace that accompanies it with a somewhat single-minded resolve. No one is going to budge her from her path, even if she doesn’t know where her path is going to take her. Joselyn simply does it anyway. No one was going to hold her back and that self propelled will is something that sets the young woman apart from some of the others. She tries not to force her will on others, but like her mother, she tends to be hard headed and spirited in her paths and can tend to be a bit bossy. Joselyn struggles with that weakness constantly. Her willful spirit also makes her very career and goal oriented and has little patience for those who are just flitting about without reasonable goals. She understands spontaneity, she adores the concept herself, but there has to be something to drive someone. ’Aimless’ living does not suit the young woman. HISTORY: Joselyn comes from a Starfleet family, so it’s in her blood as much as she tried to fight it when she was a little girl. Her parents met in Starfleet and married just two years after their graduation. Within the year, Rhonda was pregnant and while it was a difficult birth (it tended to run in her family), both mother and daughter came through with flying colors. For the first few years, her mother took a leave of absence from Starfleet, even intended to retire all together and followed her husband while he served on the USS Endeavour. Joselyn loved learning to walk and talk onboard a starship, playing with the other crewmembers children and learning some of the ins and outs from her mother, who missed serving more and more as Joselyn got older and began asking more and more questions.
By the time she reached eight years, her mother had fallen into a depression that worried both daughter and husband. Part of Rhonda blamed little Joselyn for taking her away from her career and the other part blamed her husband. Both tried their best to cheer her up, Joselyn especially. She would constantly ask her mother for help with her school work, despite the fact that she didn’t need it. Her mother saw through the charade early on but couldn’t blame her daughter for trying. Eventually, it split up the marriage, right around the time that Ian Warner took a position teaching at Starfleet. Joselyn surprised everyone by choosing to remain on Earth with her father while her mother took a position on board the USS Excalibur under Captain Harris. Two years later and she had a stepfather and half brother named Zander.
Joselyn would be the first to admit that when she reached high school level, she was a handful. Curious and willing to try everything at least once nearly drove her father insane. He would come home to a message informing him of one thing or another that Joselyn had done; it was never anything serious since Joselyn feared her father’s groundings too much to break the law, but enough to make him sit her down when she was sixteen and have a good, long chat with her about growing up and responsibility. She pretended that it hadn’t worked, but slowly her behavior changed. Joselyn spoke with her mother more and arranged to meet up with her half brother more than just on holidays. Her father was even surprised when she expressed interest in Starfleet. He hadn’t wanted her to follow his footsteps, or her mother’s for that matter. Rhonda on the other hand, was thrilled. She made sure her daughter was prepared for the exams but it wasn’t long until she tried to push Joselyn to follow her footsteps footprint by footprint.
At Starfleet she thrived, more than her father ever thought she would. Her instructors praised her dedication and Joselyn worked hard, almost too hard. When she wasn’t studying, she was dodging her mother, who wanted her to major in theoretical physics like she had when she was in Starfleet. For months, even into her second year, Joselyn had avoided telling her mother until her half brother surprised her with a visit, accompanied by her mother, newly promoted to first officer. There was no avoiding it and Joselyn had to tell her mother that she wanted to be an astrophysist and engineer. Her mother was shocked, and it wasn’t until the end of the visit that she accepted her daughter’s path, even supported her.
When she graduated Starfleet, she went on to serve aboard the USS Valiant where she met David Trion, a half betazoid medical cadet there. At first, he was a constant source of irritation, but opposites attract and the two began a relationship. Due to their natures, it was an on again, off again affair that lasted her entire time aboard the Valiant ending when both discovered that in one of their off periods, they had slept with other people. The argument grew until they agreed and it was best to go their separate ways. It was on the eve of her transfer to another ship, to further her studies and the transfer was completely unrelated to David, which made it all the worse that she didn’t have time to find some way to set it right. Joselyn always regretted leaving that way.
She was stationed on USS Hood during the Narada attack, but it was undergoing repairs and not able to participate in the battle. Unfortunately for her, her mother, still stationed in the USS Excalibur, was killed near Vulcan, a fact she tries to forget. Many Starfleet members lost loved ones, she wasn’t the only one and that’s what makes it possible for her to move on. With a new captain at its helm, Joselyn requested to be transferred to the new ship, USS Enterprise, to work on the new ship.

NAME/ALIAS: Sparrow. HOW LONG YOU HAVE BEEN RPING: approx. 9 years WHERE DID YOU FIND US: BEAM ME UP! DID YOU READ THE RULES: pilgrim RP SAMPLE: Kara was on her way to class when she passed the flyer on one of the boards. Her books, heavy for anyone outside the Kent family, looked like they were about to fall out of her arms at any moment, but she didn’t move to readjust them as she read. She read it, stared at it, and read it again. When she first came to DC, she thought everyone would be on the same side, but she learned that wasn’t the case early on. People formed groups, cliques that they ran with, generally calling themselves teams, but Kara knew that it was more than just teams. They were forming sides all over the place. DC was a battlefield littered with boundaries and lines in the sand. There was the weird Brotherhood, that she didn’t even want to know about… then the Justice League. Her cousins seemed to be staunch supporters of the cause. It was a good team, Kara would admit that any day, but the way they stood on a pedestal, like they were better than everyone else? Kara didn’t like that, and she certainly didn’t like being looked down on.
Biting her lip, she snatched the flyer from the board. Clark wouldn’t like it, nor would Conner, she assumed. They probably would either, understand more than anyone else, or go in the complete opposite direction. Either way, Kara figured she might as well see what it was about. She was dying to get out from under the shadows of her well known cousins, make her own way and find her own niche. Maybe this was it, maybe not, but it seemed like a better use of them then flipping through the textbooks in her arms.
Kara zipped through the halls to the student center, only stopping when she was sitting on the couches, looking at Jenny Sparks. She set her pile of books down on the table and held up the flyer so she could see it. “Are you serious about this?” Kara didn’t want to be laughed at for believing it if it was just some prank and upperclassman was playing on the younger students. Pranks, she could take, and give them right back, but she had to know it was happening first. ”Cause if you aren’t, then you better have some superspeed and some weird tracking power or else you’re going to end up making a few people mad around here.” Kara had a serious face for only a moment, before the corners tugged into a mischievous little smirk. ”They like their face time.”
